Basato sul caratteristico sci-fi nato dal manga di Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the shell vede Scarlett Johansson protagonista nei panni di un singolare ibrido umano-cybor. Diretto da Rupert Sanders, il regista inglese di Biancaneve e il cacciatore, il film arriva al cinema il 30 marzo con Universal Pictures. Nel cast anche Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk e Juliette Binoche.

Il Maggiore (Johansson), un ibrido tra un umano e un cyborg unico nel suo genere, guida una task force d’elite chiamata Sezione 9 e si occupa di operazioni speciali. Devota al suo ruolo nel combattere gli estremisti e i più pericolosi criminali, la Sezione 9 si trova di fronte a un nuovo nemico il cui obiettivo singolare è quello di spazzare via tutti i progressi e gli obiettivi raggiunti dalla Hanka Robotic nel campo della tecnologia informatica.
