Brunello Cucinelli awarded for restoring a medieval village in Umbria

Italy celebrates the importance of sustainable production

The Italian famous fashion entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli has just been given the Community and Social Justice Award during the Green Carpet event, organized by the  Italian Chamber of Fashion in Milan at the end of September.

The prize acknowledges those business who embrace sustainable production and the reduction of environmental footprint. Cucinelli received the prestigious prize for having restored the medieval village of Solomeo, in the Province of Perugia. The village's main edifices and its beautiful fortification were built in 1391 around a small group of peasants' houses, and it now hosts the headquarters of Cucinelli's company. During the ceremony, Livia Firth from Eco-Age declared that the award "celebrate what fashion should really be".
